Oil Hits $100 While the World Does Nothing
Oil reached $100 a barrel on Thursday, the Magnificent 7 lost nearly $800 billion in market value, and Wall Street’s fear index reached its highest level in a month.
The Iran war is raising oil prices and increasing inflation fears. At the same time, investors are questioning whether the huge amounts spent on AI will ever produce enough profit. Even strong technology earnings are no longer enough. Investors are selling as soon as they see any weakness.
Many now expect oil prices to fall because they believe Washington will eventually face enough pressure to reduce tensions with Tehran. Markets are expecting economic damage to achieve what diplomacy and international institutions have failed to achieve.
Strangely, the whole world watches this chaos, complains about it, and does nothing to stop the bullying and arrogance of power that have weakened international law and its institutions.
